Baseball Camp FAQ’s


What equipment does my child need to bring to baseball camp?


We recommend that your child brings with him the following items:


·        Baseball Glove


·        Baseball Cleats/Spikes


·        Baseball Cap


·        Tennis Shoes (For indoor workouts)


·        Baseball Pants (Optional)


·        Baseball Bat (Optional)


·        Swimsuit (SUMMER CAMP ONLY - For full day/overnight campers just finishing 7th grade and younger)


If your child does bring all or some of these items, be sure to label them with your son’s name and phone number.  If any items or stolen or lost, the Ole Miss Baseball program is not responsible for reimbursement.  However, if your child loses a piece of equipment and it is recovered, we will be glad to send it to you.


Does my camper need to bring money to camp?


Throughout the week of camp, a concession stand will be set up with snack items, drinks, and souvenirs.  Bringing money to camp is not a requirement, but if your camper would like to purchase a drink, snack, or souvenir then we suggest you pack some extra cash.  Otherwise, water stations will be set up throughout the camp sites.


Do I need to send food with my camper?


No, you do not need to send food with your camper.  For campers staying overnight, breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.  For those campers just staying the full day, only lunch will be provided.  If your camper has a food allergy or a special circumstance, please inform the camp director so we can make a special note of it.  For overnight campers, there will be a pizza order taken each day for those who choose to order a pizza for a late dinner.


Will my camper be grouped with people his own age?


Yes, your camper will be working throughout the week on a team that consists of other campers his age.  The following divisions are as follows: (Grades reflect the current grade that your camper is in)



A Division- Grades 1-3


AA Division- Grades 4-5


AAA Division- Grades 6-8


Prep Division- Grades 9-10


Sr. Prep Division- Grades 11-12


We do insist that your camper stays within his own age group, but if one of our staff members feels that he needs to be moved into a higher age group, we will do so. 


Can my son be on the same team as his friend?


We do allow for teammate and roommate requests, but we insist that you inform us before the day of registration.  Also, make sure that your roommate request is registered for the correct camp date and camp type (Overnight or Semi-Private) to eliminate any confusion at registration.  For those who want to be on the same team, please make note of the divisions listed above and make sure that your teammate request is in your division. 


What can my camper expect to learn from camp?


The Ole Miss Summer Baseball Camps are geared to provide coaching, competition, and facilities necessary for rapid improvement through fundamental drills and game situations.  Through lectures, information will be provided on position thinking, goal setting, and other skills designed to make a difference helping campers to fulfill their potential on and off the baseball field.  The weeklong camps will feature: Primary and Secondary Position Fundamentals, Hitting Mechanics, Throwing and Fielding, Bunting, Sliding, Team Offensive and Defensive Strategies, and Instructional Games.


Will my camper be well supervised?


Yes, supervision will be provided by our full-time staff around the clock, from drop off to departure.  Health care will be provided by a full-time trainer and there will be approximately one coach for every ten campers to ensure their safety and supervision. 


Where and when is registration?


The following information is for OVERNIGHT and SEMI-PRIVATE campers:


·        Check-in at the Days Inn between 4:30-5:30pm on the SUNDAY prior to camp (i.e. July 11th or July 18th)


The following information is for campers who are COMMUTING to and from camp:


·        Check-in is on MONDAY morning at Swayze Field between 8:00-8:30am.
